- Ecumenical Social Ministries(ESM)
ESM was founded in 1982 by eight downtown churches to provide for the basic emergency needs of the hungry, the homeless and the jobless in Colorado Springs, CO. At that time, each of those eight churches was involved in social ministry to the poor in small ways. By collaborating, they were able to combine financial, in-kind and volunteer resources to serve the most vulnerable by feeding the hungry, clothing, the naked, giving drink to the thirsty, and caring for the sick.
“In response to the Gospel, the mission of ESM is to provide food, medicine, housing, and other emergency services in conjunction with job placement and educational programs promoting self-sufficiency, to prevent the low-income public from falling further into poverty, and to help them attain a more abundant life.”
VCC supports the ministry of ESM through our outreach budget and our prayers. We often refer folks in need to ESM for their wide range of services.
