Rev. Marlene Urban-Funk

Rev. Marlene Urban-Funk was raised in Colorado Springs, CO and was active in First Christian Church (DOC). A graduate of Wasson High School, Marlene traveled to Enid, OK for Phillips University and completed a B.A. in Christian Education in 1993. Marlene accepted a call from the Common Global Ministries Board of the Christian Church(DOC) and the United Church of Christ to serve for 2 years with the Eglise Reformee de France in the Paris region. From January of 1993 to August of 1996 Marlene worked with a multi-cultural congregation in Aulnay-sous-Bois and with a social center serving immigrant children in the adjacent town of Bondy. Marlene returned to Colorado Springs briefly and then followed Christ’s leading to Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, OK and earned her Masters of Divinity in December of 2000. During her four years of seminary Marlene was priviledged to work at the First Christian Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma with over 200 exceptional youth and children, and with a fine group of parents and ministry sponsors.
Marlene was ordained in March of 2001 and began her ministry with Village Christian Church as Pastor in December of 2001.
Marlene is married to Kenny Funk and is the beaming mom of two children, Anna Elisabeth(3) and Theodore William (1). Marlene is the youngest daughter of Nancy and Marvin Urban.
