WHY I GO TO VILLAGE CHRISTIAN CHURCH
SUE DOUGHERTY
I met Marlene & Kenny Urban-Funk at the CO Springs Balloon Classic. It was at that time we were reunited from the old days at Wasson High School where she attended with my son Don & daughter Michelle. It was a refreshing reunion. Marlene told us that she was the pastor of the VCC and that we should visit some Sunday. I had just moved back from Denver to the Springs and had no church home, so I grabbed hold of her invitation and the following Sunday I came to worship. It was a wonderful experience because Marlene introduced me to the congregation and made me feel so at home. Just before the service Clyde and Virginia Barnes not only greeted me but sat with me and I felt like I had known them for years. It was a refreshing experience. After the service several members came up to me and spoke with me and then a familiar face touched me on the shoulder and there was Kathy Schultz and Joe. I hadn’t seen Kathy for years. I guess the reason I attend VCC is the warm feeling I have after I leave. I have made some new friends and it is a warm comforting feeling to attend. I am now a deacon and lector, as well as sing in the choir and I hope to expand further in contributing my talents to the VCC growth through its Revitalization program.
